Fare to Middlin’, our new layout which replaces Mount Dowd, is up and running.
The set up at a Scout hut in Grenoside went very well without any problems. Battery diesels then set out to test the point work on the main running lines and the many sidings. The buildings that had already been made were placed in the positions they will occupy on the scenic side of the layout. The boards painted grey are the non-scenic side. The “putting -up ” team took about 40 minutes to erect the layout; not bad for a first attempt.
Notice on the non-scenic side that there are some “wing” sidings which act as extra steam up areas on the outside of the track.
Members were invited to come to test the layout in the afternoon and soon got to grips with the two main running line permutations.
