Built in Leeds is an archive of locomotive manufacturers who were based in Leeds. Leeds was the epicentre of locomotive building, design and manufacturing in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Names such as Hunslet, Manning Wardle, Kitsons, Hudswell Clarke, Fowler and Hudsons are all familiar to narrow gauge modellers.
At the end of each manufacturer’s entry, I have shown what could be of interest to 16mm modellers, plus what’s been produced by manufacturers within our hobby, both past and present. I hope this archive is an interesting historical record and a useful resource for 16mm builders looking for their next project.
