Steam Tram “Kay”

Photo:

Kay is a model of the vertical-boilered ‘Victoria’ from the Plynlimon & Hafan Tramway – a short-lived 2’3″ gauge railway which connected with the standard gauge line to Aberystwyth a few miles north of that town.  The original locomotive was a failure – its boiler was allegedly too small to generate enough steam for its 4 cylinders.  The model, by Peter Angus – is the complete opposite: the oscillator purrs beautifully and the loco will happily trundle along with just a few pounds of pressure.
