We have just enjoyed our New Year Steam Up event on Saturday the 6th of January, held for the third time at Grenoside Community Centre. Whilst the weather outside has been wet, windy and turning cold members of the Association of 16mm Narrow Gauge Modellers met in the dry and warm. What could be better than drinking tea, eating fish and chips and having a good chinwag while running trains. The group’s two layouts, Mount Dowd and Dixon Green/Saed-Y-Parc provided the tracks to run on and this year a small 45mm gauge layout gave those of wider persuasion a chance to run.

This year we were visited by representatives of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and we were pleased to present them with a cheque for £1500. The donation is possible by the YAG activities generating a surplus, anyone who has helped, attended or organised any of the YAG events has contributed to this. Thank you to all of you, you should be proud of yourselves.

As usual this event can only happen with the efforts of a small band of volunteers who book the facilities, bring the trailers, set up the layouts and when the fun is over pack up and take the trailers home. On behalf of all who attended I’d like to pass on our appreciation to them – thank you.
