While this compact 2 foot gauge railway would almost fit inside the Barrow Hill Roundhouse, it’s firmly based in Ripon, North Yorkshire. So, you may ask, how does it attend a show?
Well, this 2 foot railway has a 32mm gauge model of it. While not exactly the layout of the real thing, it’s inspired by it, and intends to show what the RDLR is all about, with matching buildings to boot!
Locos run on the model are again based on resident locomotives and rolling stock that live on the RDLR rails.
The key to this layout however, is its owner Neill. His fantastic collection of industrial related kit which makes up the RDLR is impressive, but more so is his knowledge of industrial railways. Especially around Ripon & North Yorkshire. You don’t just come to see this RDLR Model Layout, you come to learn about how railways shaped many industries and vice versa.
