We had a couple of days on the trams.  There are 3 systems:

The Electric tramway (3ft gauge ) runs from Douglas to Ramsey using electric trams usually towing a trailer.  There is some interesting shunting at Ramsey where the trailer is uncoupled and run around the tram using just gravity and a handbrake.

The Snaefell Mountain Railway (3ft 6” gauge  –  the extra 6” allows space for the Fell system centre rail braking system) runs from Laxey up to the highest point on the island.  We had a trip up the mountain on the 130th anniversary of the opening of the railway (we didn’t plan this but noticed that the trams were displaying 130th headboards)

Finally the horse trams (3ft gauge) run along part of Douglas bay (only about half way now but hopefully the complete route may open again someday)
