Rheilfford Cwm Damems : Leeds and Bradford Shed Wednesday steaming May 2017

Huddersfield Railway Modellers

On Saturday February 11th, after an enjoyable winter steam-up, there was a formal 'Last Train', after which the layout was carefully split in half.  The fiddle yard, the viaduct & Aberglaslyn sections have been crated and new sections installed to make up the new 18ft x 15ft exhibition layout 'Portmadoc'.  This will make its exhibition debut in the Autumn at Elsecar and at the club's 50th Anniversary Show at Holmfirth at the end of October. After these shows the layout will revert to its current configuration in time for next winter's indoor steaming sessions.

Obviously this means that first Thursday in the month running sessions are also suspended, although group members are still welcome to come along to check up on our progress.

THE SHEFFIELD SHED  Sheffield Shed will be steaming most weeks throughout the year, weather permitting, April to September inclusive on Wednesday evenings, the rest of the year on Saturday afternoons.

We start at 2.00pm and usually finish around 6.30 on weekdays with 11.00am to 4.00 at weekends. All railways are 32mm with the exception of David Mills’ 45mm layout, although he has plenty of rolling stock available once you’ve re-gauged your engines. Our group has a packed programme with a wide selection of layout types and sizes. When a non-group member ‘phones to confirm their proposed arrival and get the address of his host, it would be best to enquire about loading gauges and curve radii.
